Overview

The Ranch Operations Manager is designed to make it as painless as possible to record data in the field that captures the key information that is needed to reconstruct what happened over the course of a Season. The system uses this data to calculate seasonal summaries of grazing information by paddock, so that ultimately you view a season's grazing information by paddock across years.

An example of the one way that we try to make data collection as painless as possible is by collecting information about when herds move rather than how long a herd occupied a paddock. This is because when you are in the field it might not always be obvious exactly how long the herd has occupied their current paddock.

For the system to properly reconstruct herd movements, you need to make sure that you set the season's parameters properly, especially the Season start date, and Season end date. At the end of a season, the sytem assumes each herd occupies the last paddock that they were moved to until the end of the season.
